Kris Deelane

Raised in suburban Los Angeles during the punk rock era and subsequent musical revolution of the late 70's/early 80's, Kris' influences were diverse - from The Beatles and Neil Young to The Pretenders, X, and The Plasmatics (Wendy O. Williams was a favorite). The sense of righteous defiance coupled with a tragic flair resonated in her, and continues to inform her music, art, and style.

Kris started her music career in college as keyboardist and singer in an Andrew Sisters-meets-B52's group called "Alice, I Wonder." In 1990 she toured to the Soviet Union in a production of "Fiddler on the Roof." When she got back to LA, she got behind the drums for the first time in the band "Slaughterhouse 5" and played bass in the ska band "Timeboy." Kris went on to sharpen her songwriting and guitar skills on many tours with the nationally acclaimed acoustic duo "Adam + Kris." She took a break from the duo in 2000 to play guitar, and percussion on tour with a reggae group that included the legendary Fully Fullwood, Rock Deadrick, and Jawge Hughes. In SweetJuice, Kris has, at one time or another, played guitar, bass AND drums.

In addition to music, Kris writes poetry and has painted or designed cover art for many of her bands' CDs. She advocates animal rights, ecological sustainability, organic food, nutrition as medicine, universal healthcare, and the fall of big business.

Adam East

Adam was born and raised in Canada, spending most of his young life in the remote, yet cosmopolitan city of Edmonton, Alberta.

Influenced at a very young age to be musical (by a combination of Beatles Records, Monkees TV shows a musically inclined older brother), Adam was playing piano at age 4 and began composing songs thereafter. He explored many different instruments and musical styles, playing bass with a popular early 80's british invasion/punk group called "The Mods" and later "TRUTH," and releasing a couple independent albums.

Upon leaving school, Adam began his path as a singer/songwriter/acoustic performer. He found early success while overseas, opening a show for Tina Turner before 30,000 bewildered Israeli Tina fans, and making his living in Europe for nearly a year.

Returning to North America, Adam relocated to Los Angeles where he played bass, keyboards, and guitar with countless groups, most notably "Adam + Kris," with whom he has toured and recorded for more than a decade.

Adam continues to freelance as guitarist and bassist for several Portland-area bands and is a busy live sound and recording engineer/producer.

Daisy

Daisy comes to us from Boulder, CO where she played percussion in the nationally touring progressive jamband "Skin." She has been performing with SweetJuice and Adam + Kris' duo as a percussionist for years, and decided to focus on playing bass and join the band in late 2005.
